Imam Yaser M. Ahmed was born in Sudan, in the city of Rabak (White Nile Province). He migrated to the United States of America in 1995. In addition to learning in the modern school system, he studied the Quran in traditional Quranic schools. He also studied Fiqh and Aqeedah under Sheikh Salih Taj El-deen, (in Masjid Abu-Baker Al-Sidiq) in the city of Rabak, Sudan.

Yaser Ahmed is a Veterinarian. He earned his Bachelor’s degree (B.V. M.) at the University of Khartoum in 1994. He is currently registered as Graduate Student – Islamic Studies in Shari’ah (Master’s Program) at the Islamic Open University.

Currently he is the Imam of the Islamic Center of Greensboro (ICG) in Greensboro, North Carolina and has held this position since March of 2003. He has given several presentations and lectures about Islam in places such as UNCG, Guilford College, Greensboro College, a local YMCA and at various Churches in Greensboro, NC.

Imam Yaser, besides leading daily prayers and delivering the Friday Khutbah at ICG, also conducts counselling for spouses and families, performs Islamic marriages, co-ordinates educational programs, and Dawah programs to non-muslims, performs janazahs, and provides his services for all other needs of the community.
